Since 1999, the European Agent Systems Summer School aims to provide a valuable forum for knowledge exchange between various research groups in its field for the benefit of students and researchers at both beginner and advanced level.

EASSS has been organized annually in different European locations since the beginning,

and its proper organization is every year ensured by EURAMAS (the European Association for Multi-Agent Systems).

The success of the different editions is essential not only for the mutual benefit of research groups, but also in forming future generations of researchers to maintain the excellence of agent’s research and development in Europe.

This year’s school will feature additional courses covering topics related to social intelligence, since it will be co-organised by the European Network for Social Intelligence (SINTELNET) and also serves as their official Summer School.

EASSS-2014 is also co-organized by:

  • the ICT COST Action IC1205 on Computational Social Choice;
  • the Greek AI Society (EETN);
  • the Technical University of Crete;
  • and the Region of Crete / Regional Unit of Chania  and is supported by IFAAMAS (the International Foundation for Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems).

EASSS attracts about 100 students each year. The school provides a wide range of state-of-the-art courses given by some of the most prominent researchers in the area.

A typical course has 4 hours in total and they are broad enough to provide a general introduction to the chosen topic, whilst also students can learn the most relevant contributions in depth.

This year’s school will feature a total of 17 courses!..
