Ο Δρ. Μιχαήλ Μπαμπάτσικος απέκτησε το πτυχίο του στην Πληροφορική από το ΤΕΙ Λαμίας το 2013 και το μεταπτυχιακό του δίπλωμα MSc in Information Security από το University of Surrey το 2015. Το 2025 αναγορεύθηκε διδάκτορας στο Τμήμα Ψηφιακών Συστημάτων του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς. Η διδακτορική του διατριβή, η οποία συγχρηματοδοτήθηκε από υποτροφία του Ιδρύματος Σταύρος Νιάρχος, επικεντρώθηκε στη διαχείριση εμπιστοσύνης και στην πρόβλεψη αξιοπιστίας στο Διαδίκτυο των Πραγμάτων (Internet of Things).
Έχει εργαστεί ως ερευνητής στο Τμήμα Ψηφιακών Συστημάτων του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς, στο ΕΚΕΦΕ «Δημόκριτος», καθώς και στο Surrey Centre for Cyber Security του University of Surrey στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο. Επιπλέον, έχει απασχοληθεί ως προγραμματιστής και ερευνητής σε τρεις εταιρείες πληροφορικής στην Ελλάδα.
Ο Δρ. Μπαμπάτσικος έχει συμμετάσχει ως μέλος επιστημονικών ομάδων σε ευρωπαϊκά ερευνητικά έργα των προγραμμάτων Horizon 2020 και Horizon Europe. Τα κύρια ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζονται στην ενίσχυση της ασφάλειας στο Διαδίκτυο των Πραγμάτων, με αξιοποίηση τεχνικών μηχανικής μάθησης και τεχνητής νοημοσύνης. Ο Δρ. Μπαμπάτσικος συνεργάζεται ερευνητικά με τον Καθηγητή Χρήστο Ξενάκη.
Dr. Michail Bampatsikos holds a Bachelor’s degree in Informatics from the TEI of Lamia (2013) and an MSc in Information Security from the University of Surrey (2015). In 2025, he was awarded his PhD from the Department of Digital Systems at the University of Piraeus. His doctoral research, co-funded by a Stavros Niarchos Foundation scholarship, focused on trust management and trustworthiness prediction in the Internet of Things (IoT).
He has worked as a researcher at the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus, at the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos” (NCSR Demokritos), and at the Surrey Centre for Cyber Security at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. In addition, Dr. Bampatsikos has worked as a software developer and researcher in three IT companies in Greece.
He has participated as a member of research teams in European projects funded under the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programmes. His main research interests lie in enhancing security in the Internet of Things through the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques. Dr Bampatsikos conducts research under the supervision of Professor Christos Xenakis.
