PhD Research Fellowship at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology

PhD RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP WITHIN THE AREA OF QUERYING BIG DATA AT THE NORWEGIAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

One fully funded PhD research fellowship is offered in the ExiBiDa project (http://research.idi.ntnu.no/exibida/) at the Department of Computer and Information Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) (http://www.ntnu.edu/idi). The PhD candidate will be affiliated with the Data and Information Management Group (http://www.ntnu.edu/idi/groups/dif).

In ExiBiDa, we will focus on exploratory analysis and querying of spatiotemporal-textual contents in Big Data, and develop frameworks and scalable techniques for supporting such analytical queries. In particular, the PhD candidate will work with challenges related to efficient algorithms and index structures for processing explorative spatiotemporal-textual queries on Big Data.

Qualifications: A master’s degree in Computer and Information Science or equivalent with very good results is required. A solid knowledge of database systems or algorithms is essential.

Since Trondheim is a very international city where almost everybody speaks and understands English, candidates need not be afraid of the language barrier.
