Library
The Library of the University of Piraeus is housed in the basement of the Main Building and has more than 55,000 volumes of books, 180 titles of foreign language periodicals and 165 Greek periodicals. It also provides full electronic access to more than 6,000 scientific journals through the Greek Academic Library Network HEAL-Link. The journals and books cover mainly the areas of interest of the University’s Academic Departments. The collection includes various publications of private and public organizations with references and statistics, as well as audiovisual material on CD ROM and DVD, which are constantly being enriched.
All undergraduate and postgraduate students, members of the Faculty of Science and Technical and Research Staff of the University have the right to register in the register of users of the University Library. The main services of the Library are:
- Provision of lending and inter-lending services
- Guidance and provision of bibliographic information to users
- Management of orders for printed and non-printed material
- Thematic processing and classification of material according to international standards
- Access to European Union material through the European Documentation Centre
- Cooperation services with other Greek libraries through the Hermes Network.

Computer Centre
The Computer Centre aims to contribute to the support of the educational, research and administrative work of the University with regard to the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The Computer Centre, among other things, supports the proper functioning of the University’s Laboratories, which are equipped with a sufficient number of personal computers to support the practical training of students.

Network Management Centre
The University of Piraeus Network Management Centre (NEMC) develops and supports the University’s network and telecommunications infrastructure and provides modern network services and advanced telematics applications, in order to support the educational and research activities of the University.

Student Care
Restaurant
Since March 1987, the Student Restaurant has been operating at the University of Piraeus, which is housed in the building at 78 Tsamadou Street, where students entitled to free meals are fed. The Department of Student Affairs issues a relevant announcement to inform students at the beginning of each academic year.
Performance Scholarships
Performance Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students on the basis of absolute order of merit. Full merit scholarships are awarded to tied candidates whose declared family incomes are absolutely equal. All other tied candidates will receive an honorary degree. Further information can be obtained from the Department of Student Affairs.
Student Tickets
In order to facilitate students’ travel by public transport, a discount on the price of the regular ticket is provided. This discount is granted to the beneficiary student for the entire academic year and for as many years as required for the normal duration of his/her studies, plus two (2) years. Those entitled to a reduced ticket price are issued a Special Ticket Voucher which is renewed every year. According to the existing provisions, students who come from a classification as graduates of other universities for the purpose of obtaining an additional degree are not entitled to a student ticket. International Academic Cooperation and Exchange Programmes
International Relations and Academic Cooperation
The University’s international activities include academic exchanges of staff and students within the framework of European Union programmes and inter-university agreements with international academic institutions. These activities allow members of the teaching staff to develop contacts with their colleagues in the international arena, to renew their knowledge and experience in their field of knowledge and to participate in exchange programmes and European research projects. In addition, our students have the opportunity to participate in mobility programmes and attend courses for one or two academic semesters at other European Universities through the SOCRATES/ERASMUS programme. Academic credits and grades from the host university are transferred to the home university within the framework of mutual acceptance agreements. Employment and Career Structure
The activities of the Employment and Career Structure are addressed to undergraduate and postgraduate students and graduates. The central objective is to offer students, in an organised way, the opportunity to get to know the environment of their future professional career and, at the same time, to acquire knowledge and skills that will allow them to better compete for their place in the professional arena.
α) Liaison Office
The Liaison Office of the University of Piraeus aims to support students and graduates of the University for their smooth integration into the labour market, providing guidance on issues related to their studies and their future professional career, such as:
- Information about postgraduate studies and scholarships in Greece and abroad.
- Counselling and guidance on issues of Career Guidance, job search, CV writing and recruitment interviews.
- Promotion of new jobs and organisation of Career Days with the participation of businesses.
b) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit
Through the Unit, the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship among young people is encouraged through the organisation of exhibitions to select innovative ideas and business plans.
The individual objectives of the interventions for the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Piraeus include:
- Developing an entrepreneurial mindset and culture in the student population.
- Developing a positive attitude and mindset towards entrepreneurship and taking entrepreneurial initiatives.
- Promoting innovation and entrepreneurship as an important employment opportunity.
- Providing knowledge about entrepreneurship and developing basic, but also specific entrepreneurial skills/competences.
- Support for the establishment of new production units or the launch of a business initiative.
- Strengthening cooperation between the academic community and the productive sector.
- Promoting research in fields related to entrepreneurship.
c) Student Internship
Individual objectives of the Internship are:
- The acquisition of a first experience / work experience relevant to the profession and/or professional integration in the place where the internship took place.
- The effective assimilation of scientific knowledge through the process of professional scientific practice, the enhancement of trainees’ skills and the development of professional awareness.
- The smoother transition of students from the area of their preparation to the area of production, businesses and organizations, the familiarization of Higher Education students with the working environment and the requirements of the professional area, as well as with the working relations and the level of remuneration, as they are formed in the Greek reality.
- The cultivation of an environment conducive to the creative integration of diverse disciplines, alongside the promotion of self-directed learning and professional resourcefulness among trainees
- The creation of a two-way information channel between Higher Education Institutions and productive actors, in order to facilitate cooperation between them.
- The integration of new trends and needs of the labour market and the demand for specific specialisations and skills of graduates in the curricula offered by the country’s higher education institutions.

Counselling Centre
The University of Piraeus Counselling Centre address students with the aim of improving the quality of life inside and outside the academic environment.
The Counselling Centre provides:
- Individual counselling and psychological support (with strict confidentiality) for decision-making and coping with difficulties in daily personal, family and academic life.
- Group Counselling on issues such as: communication and interpersonal relationships, anxiety and ways of dealing with it, gender relations, self-analysis and self-control of behaviour.
- Seminars on Information and Acquisition of Specific Knowledge and Skills on topics such as: effective study techniques, methods of writing and presenting scientific papers, development of leadership skills, effective management of academic time, teamwork, development of cooperation skills.
- Network of Student Volunteer Assistants to facilitate students with special needs.
