Short CV

George Vouros holds a BSc in Mathematics (1986), and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (1992) all from the University of Athens, Greece. Currently he is a Professor in the Department of Digital Systems in the University of Piraeus and head of the AI-Lab in this Department. He has done research in the areas of Expert Systems, Knowledge Management, Collaborative Systems, Ontologies, Reasoning with Ontologies, Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, Reinforcement Learning and Imitation Learning. He served/serves as program chair, chair and member of organizing committees of national and international conferences (AAMAS, AAAI, IJCAI, ECAI, WI/IAT, AT, EUMAS, ICMLA, ESWC, CSCL, AIAI, ISWC) and as member of steering committees/boards of international conferences/workshops (EURAMAS, SETN, AT, COIN, OAEI). He has given keynote speeches in conferences, workshops and summer schools, he has organized several workshops. He served/serves as guest editor in special issues in well-reputed journals (e.g. IJCIS, AIR, GEOINFORMATICA, AICom, ISF) and he serves the editorial board of scientific journals (e.g Discover Artificial Intelligence, Springer Nature, IJAIT, Information MDPI, etc). He is/was senior researcher in numerous EU-funded and National research projects and has supervised 13 PhD students. He currently supervises 4 PhD students.

George Vouros has served 4 times as chair of the Hellenic A.I. Society board where he currently serves as the President of the board.

He is the head of the AI Lab @ Dept. Digital Systems, University of Piraeus (http://ai-group.ds.unipi.gr/ai-group/) and director of the MSc on AI  in collaboration with Inst. of Informatics and Telecom. of NCSR “Demokritos” (http://msc-ai.iit.demokritos.gr/)
